Hey there, Pinkbird... wait, scratch that! I have some big news to share.
We're not Pinkbird anymore; I am renaming the company to ParaVocê, which means "for you" in Portuguese. This new name reflects our mission: creating something unique and personalized, just for you. Soon you’ll see the websites shift to paravoce.dev.
I’ve chosen an LLC rather than the traditional, VC staple, Delaware C-Corp. In keeping with my promise to you, I will be raising no VC funding! The LLC corporate structure ensures it. This remains a passion project with a lifespan of “decades” not “quarters.” I’m here for the long-haul, building something that lasts with you.
This change is all about carving our own path, both for the business and personally. I dream of living in Portugal one day, and ParaVocê is a big step towards that goal.
But that’s not the only thing that happened this week, so let’s jump into the updates.
The New Additions
This week was all about product variants. Since products are such a key part of the inventory management experience, getting this page wrapped up with a lot of polish and attention to detail represents a major milestone toward the product being ready.
New Product Variant Form with Locations: I’ve jazzed up the new-product-variant-form. Now, you can add locations to your product variants. This makes it easy to track where your items are, whether it's in the warehouse or at your downtown store
Modal Component for Inventory Edits: Picture this: a sleek, easy-to-use pop-up (modal) for tweaking inventory numbers right on the spot. No more jumping between pages!
Consistent Page Titles with Our Title Component: Consistency is key. I’m making sure every page title across the platform looks sharp and uniform. It's the little things that count!
Buttons Component - Keeping Things Tidy: Grouping buttons like "Reset" and "Submit" in a clean, consistent way across forms. It's all about making your experience smoother.
File Uploader Component - A Real Game Changer: This one's my personal favorite. Imagine uploading images for different-sized products (like wine bottles) and seeing them convert into super-efficient formats like AVIF and WebP. Why these formats? They’re smaller, faster, and just better for web performance.
The image upload process automatically converts them to various sizes (thumbnail, catalog, mobile, zoomed) to fit every screen. Different sizes ensures images load quickly, since I’m sending the smaller images whenever appropriate. These images are stored in a CDN (Content Delivery Network), which means they load lightning-fast from a server close to your customer, no matter where they are. It's a win-win: your site loads quicker, and our servers focus more on running the application than handling images. Thanks to Cloudflare, I've got this feature running smoothly saving about a month of development time and any maintenance headache.
Here it is! You can even see all the product images you’ve uploaded below it.
Taking a step back, here’s a view of the entire product variant screen with everything in place:
Experiments
This week I tried something complex, allowing you to add more options to product variants after creating them. But it got messy, both in code and user experience. So, I’m keeping it simple. Once a product variant is created, that's it — no adding new options. Need more options? Just start a new product.
Wrapping Up
So, there you have it. It's not just a new name; it's a new phase for us. Stay tuned for more updates and tweaks, all designed to make ParaVocê the perfect fit for your business.
Until next time,
Evan from ParaVocê (formerly Pinkbird)
