Hey there! Over the past week, I have been knee-deep in development, sprucing up our “New Order” page. This page is crucial, especially for POS use-cases, making it a focal point of our efforts.
Here’s a run-through of the advancements made:
1. Customer and Product Cards
I've introduced customer-card
and product-card
components, tying a customer to an order and showcasing products with quantities and images. Need to make adjustments? They can be easily removed with a click on the "X" in the corner.
2. Search with a Hint of Magic
Our search bar now boasts an autosuggest feature, thanks to the integration of Postgres trigrams (using pg_trgm
). Essentially, trigrams break down product names into sets of three consecutive characters, which significantly improves search accuracy, especially when a few letters are amiss. This is a fast way to keep making progress. I’ll invest a lot more time into effective search using the latest advancements in the field when more of the core structure of the app is in place.
3. Flexible Shipping Options
A toggle feature has been added for shipping, along with an override option for the shipping rate, ensuring accuracy and flexibility in managing delivery costs.
4. Tax Override
I've made it easier to manage tax with an override feature for the tax percentage. This small yet impactful tweak allows for precise tax adjustments when needed and an override ensures that when you know a specific tax situation doesn’t call for a standard rate, you can adjust it on the fly.
5. Total Section Breakdown
The total section now provides a clear breakdown of the subtotal, shipping, and tax, making the financials crystal clear at a glance.
I’m stoked about these updates and keen to make the 'New Order' page as intuitive and helpful as possible. Please leave your feedback to help me shape the direction of Pinkbird. Your experience and input are invaluable in helping me craft a tool that truly meets your needs.
Soaring together,
Evan
Weekly Wine Rec
This week we're sipping La Cabassonne Bandol Rosé 2021.
This Provençal beauty, with a crispy, light profile, offers a minerally undertone, teasing the taste buds with hints of unripened Swedish strawberry. It's a refreshing sip, perfect to bid adieu to the summer warmth.
